Prior to his time with NLE Labs Jeff served as a senior executive of three privately held
small/medium government contracting companies and Senior Vice President at Strayer Education, a proprietary, higher education institute for working adults. Jeff completed 32
years of Navy service in 2010. A career submariner, he was raised in Bismarck, North Dakota, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1978 and served on five submarines,
including command of USS Charlotte (SSN 766), and was the commander of submarine
Squadron Three's eight fast-attack, nuclear-powered submarines.
Following selection to Flag Officer, Jeff served as Commander, Navy Recruiting Command
responsible for all active and reserve Navy recruiting in the nation; Commander, submarine
Group 8 in Naples, Italy; and as the 60th Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy.
In addition to earning a bachelor of science degree in Mechanical Engineering with distinction from the Naval Academy, Jeff's education includes Navy nuclear propulsion training and master's degrees in Business Administration from Chaminade University of Honolulu and in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He served as a fellow on the Council on Foreign Relations, Where he is now a Lifetime member.
