In copper slag, button bits were achieving 80ft – 120ft per bit. After treatment, 400ft was possible. That is ~3X to 4X the operating life. Up to 10,000ft was recorded in Louisville Limestone where the buttons remained but the threads were worn through and visible on the neck of the bit.
Industrial cutters
Usually there are from 170 to 200 cutters on one barrel, in many cases all cutters may have to be changed daily and in almost all cases never last more than 3 days. The process developed by NLE DTM extends the life by 2.5 to 3 times saving significant monies.
